The meetings will be held in the department's Atlas Suite. The easiest way to find this is to come in the main department entrance (which is at first floor level) and ask the porters to direct you to the Atlas Rooms.

Facilities

The meeting rooms are equipped with data projectors and there should be both wired and wireless networks with DHCP available.

Getting Here

The University campus is situated less than a mile to the south of the city centre.

Rail
Mainline trains call at Manchester Piccadilly. A taxi from the station will take around five minutes and should cost less than £5.00. Many trains also call at Oxford Road station which is between five and ten minutes walk from the Department. UK Rail timetables can be found at Railtrack's web site.
Air
Manchester Airport is approximately twenty-five minutes from the University. A taxi will cost in the region of £15.00. Alternatively, frequent trains run from the airport to Piccadilly and Oxford Road Stations.
Road
All approach routes to the campus are clearly signposted 'Universities'. If you intend to bring a car, please let us know in advance so that we can arrange parking permits.

Other Natural Phenomena

Manchester has recentl been experiencing an unusal phenomenon known as an "earthquake swarm". Further information on this is available from the British Geographical Survey web site. Visitors should not be concerned, however, as the tremors are of a minor nature!

Social Arrangements

For those arriving on Wednesday 8th, an informal get-together is planned from 19:30 onwards at the Kro2 bar and restaurant on Oxford Road, a two minute walk from the Ibis (see map below).

On Thursday 9th, we plan to have dinner at the Yang Sing, one of the UK's best Chinese restaurants. This will probably be preceeded by a drink in the Lass O'Gowrie. More details will be available during the meeting.
